SGB's eventful summer

SGB Eventlink, the specialist outdoor event division of SGB, has supplied accommodation and access systems for a number of sporting and other events this summer.

At the Foster's British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the company supplied relocatable cabins and Rollafloor temporary flooring for the F1 paddock area, with Rollafloor also being used to deck the heli-pads. Rollaroad, a temporary roadway system, was provided for the marshals' campsite, plus 180 panels of security fencing to go round the site.

Further north, Eventlink provided eight cabins of various sizes and configurations for the Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate. One of them was used for staff refreshments during sheep shearing demonstrations and the others were used as a medical centre, shop and accommodation for officials. The company also supplied a storage unit, four mains toilet blocks, four standalone recirculating toilet units and 22 single plastic toilets.

In Scotland during June, the Royal Highland Show near Edinburgh saw the company supply and install 1,200 temporary seats for spectators to watch a variety of showing events in the main arena, SGB seating also being provided for the Open Golf Championship at St Andrews the following month.

As part of a new four-year contract with The R&A, SGB Eventlink supplied about 22,000 seats in various grandstand configurations around the Old Course. It also provided a purpose designed and built two-storey tv studio, which included a cantilevered balcony used by television crews to view the opening and closing holes.
